Dedicated shoppers will love the bargains at the Tanger Outlet Center and enjoy window shopping at charming boutiques and antique stores. There is a vibrant cultural scene including art galleries, orchestras, dance, theater and museums. A walking tour of historic downtown takes visitors to 19th century antebellum homes, the Bluffton Oyster Factory and two historic churches that were built in the 1850s.

The town also has a police department which has been in existence since 1903. Bluffton is governed by a town council consisting of the mayor and four at-large members.
