Bluffton Township has its own fire department with six stations. Its firefighters are a combination of professionals and volunteers. The town also has a police department which has been in existence since 1903. Bluffton is governed by a town council consisting of the mayor and four at-large members. The town government encourages preservation of Bluffton’s homes and historic character through a local Board of Architecture Review.
